The Liberty Lady Flames women's tennis team opens Big South competition today versus the Longwood Lancers at the Sports Racket, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Lady Flames will close out their three-game home stand on Friday at 2:30 p.m. against Morgan State.

Live stats for both matches will be available by clicking on the live stats link located on the women's tennis schedule/results page.

The Lady Flames are looking for their first win of the 2013 season, after starting the year with an 0-4 mark. Last week, Liberty dropped a 4-0 decision to East Tennessee State at the Sports Racket. Brittany Yang and Jessie Boda collected Liberty's lone win of the afternoon in doubles play, downing Larn McShane and Antonia Kolovou, 8-2. The win improved Yang and Boda's doubles record to 2-2 on the season.

On the season, Yang paces Liberty with a pair of wins in singles play, while Rebekah Jenkins and Nicola Wellman have notched a victory each in singles action. The Lady Flames' No. 2 doubles tandem of Cameron Richard and Valerie Thong are 2-2 on the year, matching Yang and Boda for the most doubles wins on the squad.

Today's match with Longwood will be the 12th meeting all-time and the first as Big South conference opponents between the Lady Flames and Lancers. Liberty holds the series advantage with a 7-4 mark, including a 2-2 record in Lynchburg.

The Lancers are coming off their first win of the year, defeating Coppin State on Feb. 9, 7-0. The win improved Longwood's record to 1-3 on the season.

Malin Allgurin and Nicole Parker top the Lancers with two wins apiece in singles matches. Four different doubles pairs have notched victories for Longwood.

Morgan State (1-6) enters Friday's match on a six-match losing streak after opening the year with a 3-2 win over Longwood. The Bears are 0-5 on the road this season and will be looking for their first win ever versus Liberty, after dropping the first two meetings between the two squads. In 2012, the Lady Flames blanked Morgan State at the Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Courts, 7-0.

Ekaterina Iakovleva leads the Bears with a 5-2 record in the No. 1 position, including wins in each of her last four matches. Mi'Kola Cooper is second on the squad with three singles victories.

Morgan State's No. 1 doubles pair of Cooper and Chelsi Russell are 3-1, while Iakovleva and Jasmine Edwards are 2-1 in the No. 2 doubles spot.

Following the Morgan State match, Liberty returns to Big South play on Feb. 28 at Campbell. Match time versus the Fighting Camels is slated for 2 p.m.
