Ashley Rininger is now a three-time Big South Freshman of the Week.

For the third time this season, Liberty forward/center Ashley Rininger has been tabbed The Crons Brand Big South Freshman of the Week. Rininger joins Winthrop's Schaquilla Nunn as the only conference players who have earned three Big South Freshman of the Week honors this season.

Rininger, who was previously honored on Dec. 3 and Jan. 14, averaged 11.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 2.0 bpg during the Lady Flames' home victories over Winthrop and Radford last week. The wins improved Liberty's record to 20-6 overall and 12-2 in the Big South. Riding a season-long seven-game winning streak, the Lady Flames own a two-game lead in the Big South standings and have clinched a bye into the quarterfinal round of the Big South Women's Basketball Championship.

Rininger posted eight points and six rebounds during Liberty's 69-54 victory over Winthrop on Thursday, in a matchup between the top two teams in the Big South standings. She scored six of her points during a decisive 16-2 second-half run, which turned a 44-42 deficit into a 58-46 lead that Liberty did not relinquish.

The native of Canton, Ohio topped the Lady Flames' balanced scoring attack with 14 points in Saturday's 69-60 win over Radford. She also pulled down six rebounds and blocked a game-high four shots against the Highlanders. Rininger recorded four points, a rebound and two blocks during the final 1:32 of the game to help halt Radford's comeback attempt.

Liberty will take to the road for two games this week, beginning with a Thursday contest at UNC Asheville. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. inside Kimmel Arena. The Lady Flames will then play their last road game of the regular season at Gardner-Webb, Saturday at 3 p.m.
