Shelley Parker pole vaulted 11-9.75 on Friday, qualifying for the ECAC Division I Indoor Track & Field Championship.

Taking advantage of her next-to-last opportunity to do so during the 2012-13 indoor track & field season, Liberty senior Shelley Parker qualified for the ECAC Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday evening. Her season-best 11-9.75 pole vault clearance came at the Virginia Tech Challenge inside Rector Field House.

Parker, a two-time Big South women's pole vault champion during her career, sailed over 11-9.75 on her second attempt to win the unseeded section of the event. Not only did the clearance meet the ECAC standard, but it is also the highest mark by a Big South women's pole vaulter so far this season.

Meanwhile, Cody Fridgen posted a fourth-place finish in the unseeded section of the men's pole vault after clearing 15-1 on his first try. It was Fridgen's fourth consecutive meet going over the 15-foot mark.

The 2013 Big South Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships will be contested Thursday and Friday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. The meet will get started Thursday at 10 a.m. with the heptathlon 60-meter dash.
