Following the retirement of assistant head coach and linebackers coach Carl Torbush earlier this week, Liberty Head Football Coach Turner Gill has named Josh Bookbinder his new outside linebackers coach.

Additionally, Gill has shifted coaching responsibilities for two other staff members. Robert Wimberly, Liberty's defensive coordinator, will coach Liberty's linebackers and safeties. Marshall Roberts will continue as Liberty's recruiting coordinator and coach the Flames' defensive backs.

"Josh adds excellent chemistry, wisdom and teaching ability to our defense staff," commented Gill. "Additionally, he has demonstrated an excellent ability to communicate and relate to the student-athletes on our team. Josh is a tremendous recruiter and loves the Lord."

This is the second job responsibility adjustment for Bookbinder since the close of the 2012 season. Bookbinder, who joined Liberty's staff last January as defensive quality control, was promoted to special teams coordinator in November after Mike Minter was named the head coach at Campbell.

Gill will announce who is going to be taking over special teams duties at a later date.

The Flames will begin spring practice next month, culminating with Liberty's annual spring football game on April 13 at Williams Stadium.
