Jones Tabbed BSC Women's Field Athlete of Week

Janae Jones was named Big South Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second time during her freshman season.

For the second time in three weeks, Liberty freshman Janae Jones has been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, it was announced today.

Jones, who was previously honored on Jan. 30, finished third in the college section of the women's triple jump at the prestigious Tyson Invitational on Saturday. Her longest jump of the day, a personal-best 39-11.5 leap, tops the Big South list this season and ranks No. 3 in program history.

Liberty pole vaulters Cody Fridgen and Shelley Parker will compete in the Virginia Tech Challenge on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m. inside Rector Field House. The rest of the Flames and Lady Flames will return to action at the 2013 Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships, slated for Feb. 21-22 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
