The Liberty Lady Flames lacrosse team travels to the Sunshine State for its 2013 season opener on Sunday against Stetson. Game time versus the Hatters is slated for 2 p.m. at the Stetson Athletics Training Center.

How to Follow the Lady Flames
Live stats for Sunday's contest will be available courtesy of the Stetson athletics communications department by clicking the live stats link on the lacrosse schedule/results page on LibertyFlames.com. A live video stream of the game will also be available for a small fee.

A Look at the Lady Flames
Liberty returns eight starters and 13 players overall from last season's squad, which posted a 3-14 record, while competing in the National Lacrosse Conference (NLC). In addition to the returning group of players, head coach Regan Denham brought in nine newcomers, which represents the largest freshman class in program history.

This season the Lady Flames make the transition from competing in the NLC the last three seasons to the Big South Conference, which will be sponsoring women's lacrosse for the very first time.

Liberty was picked to finish fifth out of eight teams in the inaugural Big South women's lacrosse preseason poll. High Point collected seven out of eight first place votes and was tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the league.

The Lady Flames are 1-2 all-time in season openers, with their lone win coming in 2011 against St. Francis (Pa.), 11-10.

The Lady Flames return nine of their top 10 goal scorers from last season, including redshirt-sophomore Morgan Becker (30) and junior Nina Dunay (27). Becker added a team-high 11 assists, while Dunay finished third on the squad with eight helpers.

Captains Chloe McIntosh, Jen Freymond and Amber Nichols provide the Lady Flames with experience at both the defense and midfield positions. Two-year starter Kristen Masullo is back as Liberty's starting goalkeeper this season.

A Look at the Hatters
Sunday's contest will be the first game in the history of the Stetson women's lacrosse program. The Hatters added lacrosse in November of 2011 and named Nicole Moore the program's first head coach the following month.

Stetson was predicted to finish second out of five teams in the preseason Atlantic Sun women's lacrosse poll. This will be the first season that the Atlantic Sun is sponsoring women's lacrosse.

Sophomore Samantha Akl and freshman Mary Kate O'Sullivan were named to the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer Watch List in January.

Looking Ahead
Liberty will play its 2013 home opener on Feb. 16 against three-time defending Patriot League champion Navy. The contest will take place at the Liberty Lacrosse Field beginning at 12 p.m.
