The Liberty Lady Flames tennis team returns to the court this weekend for a pair of matches, including its 2013 home opener on Saturday at noon against Charlotte. Liberty will then make the short trek over to Blacksburg, Va. to face the Virginia Tech Hokies on Sunday, beginning at 4 p.m.

Live stats for Saturday's and Sunday's matches will be available by clicking on the live stats link located on the women's tennis schedule/results page. Live stats for Sunday's match will be provided by the Virginia Tech athletics communications department.

Liberty enters the weekend with an 0-1 record. The Lady Flames dropped its season opener on Jan. 27 against Appalachian State, 6-1.

Brittany Yang played well for the Lady Flames, despite the setback to the Mountaineers. The sophomore collected Liberty's lone doubles and singles wins on the afternoon and was tabbed the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her efforts.

The Lady Flames are 6-6 all-time in home openers, with their last win coming in 2009 against Charleston Southern, 4-3.

Saturday's match will take place at Liberty's indoor facility, the Sports Racket. The Lady Flames are 4-4 all-time in contests played at the facility. Liberty played two matches there last year, falling to Richmond, 4-3, and No. 62 Virginia Tech, 5-2.

Charlotte currently holds an overall record of 1-1 in its dual matches this season. The 49ers lost their season opener to USC Upstate, 5-2, before downing Big South member Campbell, 4-3, the following day.

The match between the Lady Flames and 49ers will mark only the second time the two schools have squared off against each other, with Liberty collecting the win on Feb. 27, 2011, 6-1.

Following its match with Charlotte, Liberty will face off against ACC member Virginia Tech on Sunday. The Lady Flames will be looking for their first win against the Hokies. Liberty is 0-4 all-time against its fellow Commonwealth school, including its most recent setback a year ago. Liberty is 0-3 in matches played in Blacksburg.

Virginia Tech enters the weekend with a perfect 4-0 mark on the season, including an upset of No. 41 Minnesota this past Sunday. The Hokies currently have two players, Raluca Mita (11) and Isel Martinez-Marcos (14), ranked in the top 20 of the ITA's Atlantic Region. The doubles pair of Mita and Kelly Williford is ranked No. 9 in the region.

After Sunday's match, Liberty will return to Lynchburg on Feb. 12 for a matchup with East Tennessee State. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the Sports Racket.
