Game Notes: Flames Host Second Place High Point At The Vines Center On Saturday

The Liberty University Flames (10-12, 4-4 Big South) will host the High Point University Panthers (16-7, 7-1 Big South) at the Vines Center (8,500) in Lynchburg, Va., on Feb. 3, 2007. Tip-off is set for 7
The game will be televised on the Flames Television Network with play-by-play by Ray Jones and color analysis from Tim Scarborough. The broadcast will also be streamed live on the internet via the Big South EDGE at BigSouthSports.com.
The game will be broadcast on WRVL 88.3 FM with play-by-play by Jerry Edwards.
All games can also be heard via the Internet by logging onto the Flames' web page (www.LibertyFlames.com) and clicking on the "Live Audio" link.
Liberty Versus High Point
Liberty holds the all-time series advantage with a 10-8 mark. The
Flames are 2-7 at High Point and 8-1 at home. The Flames have dropped
the last two meetings including a 77-71 loss at High Point on Jan. 17.

Larry Blair Versus High Point
In seven career games against the Panthers, Larry Blair is averaging 24.6 points per game. Blair has scored at least 20 points against High Point in three-straight games including 24 earlier this season at the Millis Center. Blair collected his career-high 38
points the last time the Panthers came to the Vines Center on Jan. 3, 2006.
Dwight Brewington Looking For 700 Career Points
Including his two years at Providence, Dwight Brewington has 658 career points. Brewington needs 42 points to reach 700 for his career. Brewington scored 464 points at Providence and 194 with the Flames.
Record When Leading At Halftime
The Flames are 8-1 when leading at halftime, 2-10 when the opponent is leading and 0-1 when the score is tied at halfime.
Blair Leads Race To Big South Record Of Games Played
Larry Blair has currently played 113 career games. There is a four man race for the Big South record for games played set by Pierre Wooten of Winthrop (120) from 1998-03.
Landon Quick of High Point is also at 113 career games. Phillip Williams and Craig Bradshaw of Winthrop are also in the hunt with 111 career games.
Should Blair not miss any games remaining on the Liberty schedule,
he would be the first to 120 games which will be the Flames' Feb. 21
game at VMI. Blair would also be the first to reach 121 games when the
Flames play at Radford on Feb. 24.
The final leader will all depend on which teams advance deep into the
Big South Championship.
Blair On Verge Of Big South First
Larry Blair is 42 rebounds and 16 assists away from being the first player in Big South history with 2,000 points, 200 three-point field goals, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals in a career.
Blair needs to average 4.7 rebounds per game to reach 500 career rebounds by the end of the year. Blair also needs to average 1.8 assists per game to reach 300 career assists.
Anthony Smith Scores 500 Career Points
Sophomore Anthony Smith became the 45th player in Liberty history to score 500 career points when he tallied 17 points against VMI on Saturday.
20 Records Broken In January 27 Game Against VMI
Twenty total records were broken in the Flames 122-117 victory over
VMI on Jan. 27.
Twelve of the records were Vines Center records including combined points in a game and Liberty field goals, assists and points in a half. The remaining eight records are team and opponent marks.
Big South Records Broken In January 27 Game Against VMI
Two weeks after VMI set the single-game conference record for most points scored in a league contest (116) against Charleston Southern on Jan. 13, the Keydets and Flames both surpassed the total on Jan. 27 in the Vines Center, as Liberty held on for a 122-117 win over the Runnin' Roos. The two combined for a league single game record 239 points, and the Flames broke the record for team assists in a Big South game with 33.
McLean And Big South Rebounding
Alex McLean is currently second in the Big South Conference in rebounds with 8.6 boards per contest.
McLean has grabbed at least 10 rebounds in a game nine times, which is second best in the Big South. McLean's three games of 15 or more rebounds leads the Big South.
Larry Blair A Scoring Machine
During Larry Blair's career, he has scored at least 20 points in 48 of his 113 games. Blair has scored at least 15 points in 73 out of 113 career games and has tallied double figures in 43-straight contests and 55 of his last 56 games.
Blair has tallied double figures in 96 of his 113 career games, which includes 106 career starts. In addition to Blair, only three other active NCAA Division I players are approaching or have accomplished at least 100 career starts and 100 double-figure scoring games. Nick Fazekas of Nevada has 105 starts and 103 career double-figure scoring games, Jamar Wilson of Albany has 107 career starts and 93 career double-figure scoring games and Brandon Heath of San Diego State has 108 starts and 100 career double-figure scoring games.
On The Brink Of History
Larry Blair is quickly climbing the Liberty and Big South Conference all-time scoring lists. Blair entered the season with 1,580 career points. Here is how Blair currently stacks up on the Liberty and Big South all-time scoring lists:
Blair needs 139 points or to average 15.44 points per game through the Flames' remaining nine games which include the first round of the Big South Championship, to take sole possession of the Big South career scoring title.

Blair Reaches 2,000 point plateau
Larry Blair became the third person in Big South and Liberty history to score 2,000 career points. The guard also became the 429th player in NCAA Division I history to reach the 2,000 point landmark.
Blair joins three other players this season in reaching the milestone. Caleb Green of Oral
Roberts, Nick Fazekas of Nevada and Gary Neal of Towson State & La Salle all accomplished this feat earlier this year.
Blair scored 26 points to Green's 19 when Liberty and Oral Roberts met in the BYU Holiday Classic on Dec. 30.
