Coming off a defeat to Iona on Tuesday, the Liberty men's basketball team returns to the Vines Center, Friday night, playing host to Milligan. The contests marks the first-ever meeting between the Buffaloes and the 31st against a member of the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC). A live radio broadcast will be available on LibertyFlames.com (flagship station WRVL 88.3 FM) with Alan York calling the play-by-play. The game will also be streamed LIVE on the Big South Network with Nick Pierce calling play-by-play and Paul Nazigian providing color analysis. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
What To Watch For
- Coming off a season-high 16 points at Iona, John Caleb Sanders needs just seven points to reach 600 points for his Liberty career. The junior is currently 43rd all-time on Liberty's scoring list.
- In Liberty's game against Iona, JR Coronado proved he was more than just a rebounder, posting a season-high 11 points. The Venezuelan also recorded a season-high 14 points to garner the Flames' first double-double on the year.
- Known for their perimeter defense, this season, the Flames will look to shut down Milligan's three-point shooters after allowing an uncharacteristic 18 treys at Iona. Liberty still remains tops among Big South squads in three-point field goal defense, forcing opponents to shoot 28.6 percent from long range.
- Both teams are coming off trips to the great state of New York. Milligan squared off with King's College in New York City on Wednesday, while the Flames faced Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y, this past Tuesday. The first few minutes of the game should give an indication as to what effect the extensive travel will have on the two squads.
