Liberty Athletics to Host Best Field Trip Ever Day

The Liberty athletics department will welcome area elementary and middle school students to the Vines Center on Monday for the women's basketball game against Virginia Union as part of its Best Field Trip Ever promotion.

Over 2,200 students and chaperones from over a dozen schools from across the south-central Virginia region will be in attendance at the game. The schools that are participating in the event include Bedford Hills Elementary, Madison Heights Elementary, Sheffield Elementary, Altavista Combined School, Mt. Airy Elementary, Heritage Elementary, Sandusky Elementary, Campbell County, New London Academy, Linkhorne Elementary School, Linkhorne Middle School, Prince Edward County Middle School and Chatham Middle School.

The students in attendance will receive educational booklets with a math focus, but will also allow the students to learn more about the game of basketball. There will be numerous activities planned for the event, including a poster-making station, tattoo and face painting station and Balloon Dude Travis will also be in attendance.

The contest is slated to tipoff at noon, with the doors opening at 11 a.m.
