Final Fall Rankings - Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches Poll

Following the program's most successful season and a solid fall showing, Liberty's golf program completes its fall schedule with its best-ever fall rankings.

After a four-tournament schedule this fall, Liberty is currently ranked No. 24 in the final fall rankings by Golfstat and No. 18 in the latest Golfweek listing.

Finally, the Flames finished the fall season ranked No. 21 in the Golf World/Nike Golf Division I College Coaches' Poll. This marks the second time the Flames have been ranked in the coaches poll, following Liberty's No. 23 ranking in the Golf World/Nike listing that was released on Nov. 1.

California is the consensus No. 1 team in all three listings, followed directly by Texas in each of the polls. Alabama, Florida, New Mexico and UCLA round out the teams that make up the remaining programs in each of the three Top 25 rankings.

Liberty, winners of back-to-back Big South titles, won the 2012 NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, last May, and finished 10th out of 30 teams at the 2012 NCAA Men's Golf National Championship at Riviera Country Club.

Liberty finished one shot outside of advancing to the match play portion of the national championship tournament in the Flames' first trip to the national championship event.

This fall, Liberty finished in the top five in each of its four tournaments, including the program's 22nd Division I team tournament victory.

Liberty posted a convincing victory at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate at the Haig Point Golf Course, winning by 24 strokes over East Carolina and 26 over host South Carolina.

The Flames are slated to face many of the top programs in the country during the spring, with tournaments hosted by Arizona (Arizona Intercollegiate – Jan. 28-29), Florida (Gator Invitational – Feb. 9-10), USC (The North Ranch Intercollegiate – Feb. 25-26) and Texas (Morris Williams Invitational – April 13-14).

Following Christmas break, Liberty will return to action on Jan. 28-29 when the Flames travel to Tucson, Ariz., to compete in the Arizona Invitational at the Arizona National Golf Course.
