Lady Flames Travel to Texas for Cougar Fall Open

The Liberty Lady Flames will compete in their final fall tournament this weekend at the Cougar Fall Open in Houston, Texas. The tournament is hosted by the University of Houston.

This will be the first year that the Lady Flames have participated in the Cougar Fall Open. A strong cast of opponents are set to compete in the tournament, including host Houston, Iowa State, Rice, Denver, Arkansas, Texas State, North Texas, TCU, Lamar, Idaho, Oregon and Auburn.

Play begins this morning at 9:30 (EST) and will continue through Sunday.

A couple of doubles pairs will begin competition for the Lady Flames at 9:30 a.m. Jessie Boda and Brittany Yang will battle Texas State's Rachel Baldree and Monica Pieratt, while Cameron Richard and Alexandra Sheeran take on another Texas State tandem, Berenice Van den Bergh and Francesca Bernes.

Liberty's Annisha Domenech and Nicola Wellman are pitted against Houston's Maja Kazimieruk and Celia Fraser at 10:15 a.m. Also competing at 10:15 a.m. for the Lady Flames will be Rebekah Jenkins and Valerie Thong against Katie Gater and Solomiya Zinko of Rice.

Singles action begins at 10:30 a.m. with Sheeran challenging Auburn's Jackie Kasler. A pair of Liberty players are set to compete at 11:30 a.m., when Thong takes on Liat Zimmerman of Rice and Yang battles North Texas' Fraziska Sprinkmeyer.

Continuing singles play for Liberty at 12:30 p.m. is Jenkins against Houston's Jo Garvey and Wellman versus Daniela Trigo of Rice. The Lady Flames' Boda will battle Dane Joubert of North Texas and Richard challenges Iowa State's Ksenia Pronina to conclude the 12:30 p.m. matchups for Liberty.

Domenech will round out the first round of action for the Lady Flames at 1:30 p.m. against Gabriella Jansson of Houston.

Liberty's 2013 spring schedule begins on January 19 at the Florida Gulf Coast Invite in Fort Myers, Florida.
