Liberty head coach Shane Pinder leads the Lady Flames as they prepare for the Marriott Cavalier Classic this Saturday.

As the Liberty volleyball team prepares for a Saturday trip to Charlottesville, Va., the Flames Sports Network's Nick Pierce caught up with Liberty Volleyball Head Coach Shane Pinder.

The Lady Flames went 2-1 this past weekend at the Kent State Mizuno Classic, good for a runner-up finish. Senior middle blocker Loren Thomas and redshirt freshman Caroline Douglas were named to the all-tournament team at Kent. Liberty is off to an 8-2 record, tied for the program's fastest start in its Division I history, which began in 1988.

Liberty will compete in the Marriott Cavalier Classic on Saturday in Charlottesville, taking on in-state ACC foes Virginia Tech and Virginia at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively.
