Following four-straight days in pads and nine consecutive practices, head coach Turner Gill lightened the load for the Flames during their Friday morning workout.

Gill sent his squad onto the turf at Williams Stadium without full pads on Friday, giving his team some much needed rest before a scrimmage workout on Saturday evening.

For Friday's practice, the Flames returned to the field in just "shells," working out under ideal weather conditions for just over two hours (overcast and upper 70s). Besides cutting back on the intensity of practice, Gill also shortened the workout, sending his team off the field roughly 30 minutes early.

Following practice, FSN reporter Alan York had a chance to catch up with Gill to discuss today's practice and look ahead to tomorrow night's scrimmage.

The Flames will return to Williams Stadium tomorrow evening and hold their second scrimmage of August for roughly 90 minutes. Fans are reminded that Liberty's football practices are closed to the general public, outside of the Flames Fan Fest on Aug. 18.
