Liberty volleyball head coach Shane Pinder, along with assistant coach Jennifer Vaden, leads the Lady Flames into a Big South road weekend in North Carolina.

Liberty has opened the Big South volleyball schedule with three straight wins, putting the Lady Flames (8-9, 3-0 Big South) in a first-place tie with Winthrop.

Nick Pierce sat down with head coach Shane Pinder, along with freshman outside hitter Ansley Gebben, to conduct a pair of interviews. The interviews covered a variety of topics, including Liberty's season to date, and a look ahead to this week's matches at High Point and Campbell.

This past weekend, the Lady Flames defeated UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb at the Vines Center, extending their home winning streak to 12 matches. On Saturday against Gardner-Webb, Lillie Happel posted 22 kills and 13 digs, while Gebben set career highs with 16 kills and four blocks. Today, Happel and Loren Thomas were named Big South Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

The Lady Flames travel to North Carolina this week, meeting High Point Friday at 7 p.m. before a 5 p.m. match Saturday at Campbell.
