2010-11 CoSIDA Publication Award Winners

2010 Liberty football media guide

During last week's 2011 CoSIDA National Convention in Marco Island, Fla., the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) presented the Liberty University Office of Athletics Communications with a "Best in the Nation" certificate for its work on the 2010 Liberty University football media guide.

CoSIDA annually judges submitted publication and promotional materials in 48 different categories, giving athletics communications and sports information directors constructive feedback on the overall quality and usefulness of their publications.

For the first time in the football program's 39-year history, the Liberty football media guide was judged "Best in the Nation," finishing as the No. 1 media guide in the country among FCS programs.

The 2007, 2008 and 2009 versions of the Liberty football media guide had been judged as "Third in the Nation." During this year's contest, Liberty's football guide finished ahead of the 2010 Murray State football guide, with the 2010 Appalachian State football guide taking "Best Cover" accolades.

The 2010 edition of the Liberty football guide was a collaborative effort by Todd Wetmore, Liberty University Assistant AD for Communications, and his staff of Ryan Bomberger, Eric Brown, Paul Carmany and Jennifer Shelton.

Wetmore has now had 12 of his publications receive distinction from CoSIDA, including five "Best in the Nation" awards (also his 2002, 2007 and 2009 football media guide covers and 2008 football game program cover).

Traditionally, CoSIDA has recognized several of Liberty's publications in its annual contests. Since 1977, publications produced by Liberty's Sports Information/Athletics Communications department have won 68 CoSIDA and NAIA-SIDA certificates at the national and regional levels, including 20 "Best in the Nation" awards.
