Liberty baseball head coach Jim Toman

As the Liberty Flames baseball team prepares to open its 2011 season, third baseman Tyler Bream and head coach Jim Toman took some time with LibertyFlames.com's Nick Pierce to take a look at the upcoming year.

The Flames posted a school-record 42 victories in 2010 and have been tabbed by Rivals.com as one of 10 college baseball programs on the rise.

In its fourth year under head coach Jim Toman, Liberty will open the season this weekend with a four-game series at Mercer. The series will be part of a nine-game season-opening road stretch for the Flames.
Bream, now a junior, comes off a season in 2010, where he set the program record for hits in a year with 96. The third baseman also was named to the Big South all-conference team.

Liberty baseball begins its season Friday at 4 p.m. against Mercer in Macon, Ga., at Claude Smith Field. The two teams will square off in a doubleheader, Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by the series finale Sunday at 1 p.m.
