With the first meet of the 2010-11 indoor track & field season now in the books, Nick Pierce caught up with Liberty head track & field coach Brant Tolsma and redshirt senior team captain Geren Woodbridge. The conversation recapped the Liberty Kickoff and briefly previewed the coming season.

The Liberty men's and women's track & field teams got the 2010-11 campaign off to a good start, Friday and Saturday at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center. The Flames and Lady Flames combined to win 12 events and post 10 IC4A/ECAC qualifiers.

Woodbridge was one of the Flames' IC4A qualifiers, hitting the standard while winning the heptathlon at this meet for the second consecutive season. His score of 4,954 put the Keystone State native 68 points ahead of teammate Taylor Schmidt, who qualified for the IC4A heptathlon in his Liberty debut.

Liberty is now in the midst of an extended break from competition. The indoor season will resume Jan. 21-22, when the Flames and Lady Flames head to Blacksburg, Va., for the Hokie Invitational.
