Head coach Brant Tolsma's men's and women's cross country teams got the 2010 campaign off to a successful start, Friday at the Virginia Tech Cross Country Relays.

With the 2010 cross country season now officially underway, head coach Brant Tolsma chatted with Nick Pierce about his impressions of the Flames and Lady Flames thus far.

Tolsma addressed his teams' lofty expectations, after both the men's and women's squads were tabbed to win Big South Conference titles. He also talked about Liberty's performance at Friday's season-opening Virginia Tech Cross Country Relays in Blacksburg, Va. The meet featured a victory by the duo of Khristina Kanagy and Jennifer Klugh in the women's race, as well as impressive collegiate debuts by Katie Russo, Jarred Cornfield, Caleb Edmonds and Josh MacDonald.

Liberty will be back in action Sept. 17, when the Flames and Lady Flames head south to compete in the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Conway, S.C.
