Jack DeGroat has been selected to play in the 2017 Cape Cod League All-Star Game.

Liberty Flames' pitcher Jack DeGroat has been selected to play in the 2017 Friendly's Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game, set for July 22 at Spillane Field in Wareham, Mass.

DeGroat, who has been pitching for the Chatham Anglers this summer, will be a member of the East All-Star squad.     A rising junior, the right-hander has not allowed a run in six appearances for the Anglers. He has a 1-0 record and one save with 18 strikeouts over nine innings.

The Cape Cod League All-Star Game will feature representatives from each of the country's premier summer league's 10 teams. The players were chosen to play in the game by the league's head coaches, earlier today.

Tracing its roots back to 1885, the Cape Cod League is in its 131st year. It counts more than 1,100 all-time alumni performing at all levels of professional baseball with a record 297 former Cape Leaguers on Major League rosters today.

DeGroat made 23 appearances for Liberty in 2017, posting a 1-2 record with a 2.33 ERA and four saves over 38 2/3 innings. The right-hander made two starts for Head Coach Scott Jackson's team, striking out 58 and walking 24.
