Summer Update with Frankie Hickson
Liberty's football players reported back to campus last week to begin summer workouts, allowing LFSN reporter Alan York time to catch up with sophomore running back Frankie Hickson.
Hickson earned All-Big South and VaSID All-State honors as one of Liberty's top return specialists in 2016. He finished the year with 707 total kickoff return yards, the second highest season total in program history.
The native of Lynchburg, Va., averaged 25.2 yards per kickoff return, ranking second in the Big South and No. 20 in the country. He set a program record for the longest kickoff return for a touchdown, a 99-yard touchdown return at Kennesaw State on Oct. 15.
Hickson is one of Liberty's top returning rushers from last year. He finished his first season on the field with 94 carries for 450 yards and four touchdowns. He also recorded his first career 100-yard rushing game, running for 116 yards on 14 carries, scoring first two touchdowns of his career against Jacksonville on Sept. 10.
