Lady Flames Rise to No. 14 in Mid-Major Top 25

Liberty is ranked a season-best No. 14 in this week's CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25.

Fresh off wrapping up its 15th Big South regular-season title and the No. 1 seed for the 2015 VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Women's Basketball Championship, the Liberty women's basketball team has climbed to a season-best No. 14 in the most recent CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25.

This past week, Liberty picked up road victories at Presbyterian (63-41) and Longwood (65-60), extending its winning streak to eight games and reaching 20 victories for the eighth consecutive season.

The Lady Flames are 16-1 in conference play and have tied the Big South record for most conference victories in a single season, with three games still remaining on the regular-season schedule.

Princeton, James Madison, Chattanooga, Florida Gulf Coast and Gonzaga own the top five spots in this week's poll, which consists of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast, Western Athletic.

Liberty will now prepare for its final two home games of the regular season. The Lady Flames will host Charleston Southern Saturday at 7 p.m. on Senior Night. Liberty will then welcome Winthrop to the Vines Center Tuesday at 7 p.m. for the Lady Flames' annual Play 4Kay game for breast cancer awareness.
