Flames Takedown Hatters in One-Day Golf Match
Liberty opened the spring portion of its 2014-15 schedule with a heads-up win over Stetson on Monday in a 27-hole event contested at the Victoria Hills Golf Club.
The event was slated for 36 holes, but shortened by nine holes due to darkness. Liberty posted a 3-over par 435, finishing 10 strokes ahead of the Hatters' 13-over par 445.
During the heads-up match, both teams competed with six golfers counting toward their team score, with each team taking the top four scores per nine-hole segments.
Liberty also had three golfers compete as individuals, while Stetson fielded four individuals to round out the 19-man field.
Liberty's Mathieu Fenasse was the only golfer to post a 27-hole total in red figures, carding a 6-under par 102 on the par 72, 7,149 yard course.
Rounding out the half dozen golfers that counted toward Liberty's score were Harrison Winger, who posted an 8-over par 116, Tyler Abrahamsen, who posted a 9-over par 117, and Hutson Chandler, who posted a 17-over par 125.

The Flames will return to the "Sunshine State" in two weeks to participate in the Sea Best Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Jacksonville on Feb. 2-3 at the TPC Sawgrass – Valley Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
