Meet the Lacrosse Newcomers - Cassidy-Fischetti, Cornell and McNamara
Leading up to the Liberty lacrosse season opener on Feb. 6 vs. Virginia Tech, LibertyFlames.com will provide a look at each of the Lady Flames' newcomers. Today's article features Kaitlyn Cassidy-Fischetti, Erin Cornell and Lindsey McNamara.
Why did you choose Liberty?
Cassidy-Fischetti: I chose Liberty because I really liked Coach Nangle and Coach McGinley when I first met them. I knew that I wanted to spend my next four years as a college athlete learning from them.
Cornell: I chose Liberty because of the atmosphere. I love how you are encouraged by Christ on and off the field.
McNamara: I chose Liberty because of the Christian atmosphere that the school is surrounded with. Liberty also had the business major that I intended to pursue. In regards to lacrosse, the team was very welcoming and I see a future in this team with the coaching staff that is here.
What has been the biggest adjustment you've had to make since joining the squad here at Liberty?
Cassidy-Fischetti: The biggest adjustment for me was being so far from home and not being able to see my little brother for such a long time. It really taught me how to be independent.
Cornell: The biggest adjustment I have had to get used to is the pace of the game. Everything moves so much faster and the increase of work you put in increases the expectations.
McNamara: The speed of the game is a lot different from what I was used to playing in high school, but overall I would have to say being mentally tough for everything that we do is the biggest adjustment.
What are you looking forward to the most this season?
Cassidy-Fischetti: I'm looking forward to experiencing my first season as a college athlete. I cannot wait for our first game against Virginia Tech.
Cornell: I am looking forward to making more memories with the team on and off the field. I am excited to see how we do and see how the team grows.
McNamara: I am looking forward to growing spiritually with this team and advancing my skills as a lacrosse player.
What are your goals for this season?
Cassidy-Fischetti: My goal for this season is to be an impact player on the field when it is crucial and to represent Liberty University. I want to help the team to the best of my ability.
Cornell: My goal is to work hard and get better each and every day. I want to do my best and contribute all that I can.
McNamara: My goal for the season is to win the Big South championship and to help push my team towards this goal.
What do you do in your spare time when you aren't on the lacrosse field?
Cassidy-Fischetti: When I am not at practice, I am in study hall studying for my pre-med/biomedical classes. In addition to that I love spending time with my teammates off the field.
Cornell: When I'm not playing lacrosse, I like to hang out with my teammates. I've made some really great friends and we always have a good time together.
McNamara: In my spare time I enjoy reading books, spending time with friends, studying and growing in my faith.
