Green Previews South Carolina Swing
As the Liberty women's basketball team prepares for its second road trip to South Carolina in as many weeks, Nick Pierce of the Liberty Flames Sports Network caught up with head coach Carey Green.
Liberty (11-5, 7-0 Big South), which tops the Big South standings, will play at Charleston Southern (3-12, 0-7 Big South) Saturday at 2 p.m. The Lady Flames will then head to Winthrop (8-8, 4-3 Big South) Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a contest against the reigning Big South champion Eagles. The Liberty-Winthrop contest will be televised live on the American Sports Network.
The Lady Flames, who are 52-6 all-time when playing in the Palmetto State, have won a season-best five straight games overall, seven consecutive meetings with Charleston Southern and 12 straight Big South regular-season games, dating back to last season.
Winthrop was the most recent Big South team to defeat Liberty, topping the Lady Flames by a 65-59 count in the semifinals of the 2014 Big South Women's Basketball Championship. In the preseason conference poll, Liberty was picked first and Winthrop was tabbed third.
