The Liberty women's basketball team will appear on ASN for the first time on Jan. 20 at Winthrop.

The Liberty women's basketball team will appear on the new American Sports Network (ASN) for the first time on Jan. 20 at 7 p.m., when the network televises the Lady Flames' game at Winthrop. The broadcast will also be available on the Liberty Channel.

One of two Big South women's basketball games ASN is scheduled to air this season, the Liberty-Winthrop matchup will feature the last three Big South Women's Basketball Championship victors. The Lady Flames won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013 before the Eagles captured the 2014 tournament championship.

Liberty and Winthrop are both off to a strong start in conference play this season. The Lady Flames top the Big South standings at 8-0, while the Eagles are currently 4-4.

Both regular-season meetings between Liberty and Winthrop are now part of the Big South Conference's women's basketball television package. The teams' Feb. 24 matchup at the Vines Center was previously announced as the Big South "Game of the Week" on ESPN3.

All 13 of Liberty's remaining regular-season games and the entire Big South Women's Basketball Championship will be available on a combination of ASN, ESPN3, the Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) and the Big South Network.

The American Sports Network consists of commercial TV stations owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group and reaches close to 40 percent of all TV households in the United States with 167 stations in 77 markets.  Sinclair will distribute its basketball productions to its stations solely located in the Conference's footprint of Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.  Sinclair's broadcast stations will either carry the games and any original content as part of the primary program lineup (generally on the Company's CW and MyNet affiliates) or as part of second channels (sub-channels of the primary station's signal).  A full list of affiliates for each game will be announced at a later date.
