Alex Close, Matt Pennington, Ashton Perritt and Nick Paxton have been named team captains for the 2015 Liberty Baseball team.

Head coach Jim Toman has announced the team captains for the 2015 Liberty baseball team.

First baseman Alex Close, pitcher/outfielder Ashton Perritt, right-hander Matt Pennington and outfielder Nick Paxton have been selected the team's captains for the season.  All four players are seniors.

"I think the players did an outstanding job selecting these young men to represent them," stated Toman. "I feel they will do a great job leading us throughout the 2015 season."

Liberty will begin official team practice for the upcoming season, beginning Jan. 23.  The team will hold intrasquad games on January 24 and January 25.  All team practices are held at the Liberty Baseball Stadium.

The Flames, who were ranked No. 23 in College Baseball Newpaper's Preseason Fabulous 40, will open their 2015 season on Feb. 13 at Kennesaw State, who was ranked No. 27 in the same poll.  Toman's squad is also scheduled to play at Georgia State on Feb. 14 and Georgia Tech, ranked No. 26 in the Preseason Fabulous 40, on Feb. 15 during the opening weekend of the season.

Liberty is slated to begin its home schedule at Liberty Baseball Stadium against the Bryant Bulldogs on Feb. 27 at 3 p.m.  The Flames and Bulldogs are slated to play four games that weekend, with single games on Friday and Sunday, and doubleheader on Saturday.
