With the 2014 calendar year coming to a close, LFSN reporter Nick Pierce recently had a chance to review the many happenings of the year with Director of Athletics Jeff Barber.

During Pierce's time with Barber, the two discuss a variety of topics that include facility upgrades and new openings to another successful year on the athletics competition fields.

Liberty had two notable postseason runs during 2014, including baseball earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals and football making its first-ever NCAA FCS Playoffs appearance after capturing the Big South's automatic postseason bid.

The two also discussed the bidding process for hosting an NCAA FCS Playoff game and the recently released 2015 football schedule.

Barber also commented on the growing success of Liberty's field hockey team that claimed its second straight NorPac title and defeated three top 20 teams during the 2014 season.

Pierce also talked to Barber about the opening of the new softball stadium and the planning phase for Liberty's new Athletics Performance Center (65,000-square foot facility that will house academics, a centralized training room, weight room and equipment room).

The two closed the interview by talking about Liberty's men's and women's basketball seasons and how each team is preparing to face another challenging Big South schedule.
