Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN) had a chance to catch up with Flames Head Golf Coach Jeff Thomas recently to review Liberty's 2014 fall schedule.

Thomas, now in his 11th year at the helm of the program, had a youthful roster that participated in four events this fall. The Flames' graduated four starting seniors from last year's squad that led Liberty to its third Big South title in the last four years.

Senior Mathieu Fenasse was the only returning starter from last year's championship squad and he led the Flames with a 74.00 stroke average during the fall. The native of Lias, France, posted a pair of top 10 finishes, spotlighted by a fifth-place showing at the Shoal Creek Invitational, hosted by UAB.

The Flames closed out the fall with a runner-up finish at Kennesaw State's Pinetree Intercollegiate. Liberty closed the two-day, 54-hole event with a 6-under par 282, its best 18-hole team total since March 2014.

Freshman Isaiah Logue led the charge for the Flames at the Pinetree Intercollegiate. The rookie carded a 4-under par 212 (73-71-68) and finished in fourth place in the 64-man field. The native of Fairfield, Pa., was named Big South Freshman of the Week following his first collegiate top five finish.

Liberty opens the spring portion of its 2015 schedule on Feb. 2 when they travel to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., to participate in the Sea Best Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event is hosted by Jacksonville at the TPS Sawgrass – Valley Course.
