Nick Pierce of the Liberty Flames Sports Network recently caught up with head coach Brant Tolsma to recap Liberty's 2014 men's and women's cross country seasons.

For the 11th consecutive year, both the men's and women's teams recorded top-two finishes at the Big South Cross Country Championships. This season, the Flames and Lady Flames each came in second behind High Point. For the Liberty men's team, it snapped their conference-record streak of nine consecutive Big South team titles.

At the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships, the Liberty men's team finished 15th of 33 teams, while the Lady Flames came in 19th of 38 squads to improve four places from the 2013 regional meet.

Individually, Jacy Christiansen enjoyed a stellar senior season, highlighted by her victory at the Big South Cross Country Championships. She became just the third Lady Flame ever to capture a Big South women's cross country individual championship, joining Heather Sagan and Jennifer Klugh in that exclusive club.

On the men's side, Titus Koech excelled during his freshman year. He was the Flames' top finisher at both the Big South (fourth place) and NCAA Division I Southeast Regional (28th place) Championships. At the regional meet, Koech was the third freshman to cross the finish line.
