Four Flames Named to 2014 Big South Men's Soccer All-Conference Teams

Goalkeepr Scott Sutarik was named All-Big South second team and defender Tim Harbison was selected to All-Big South first team, this afternoon

Four Liberty Flames have been selected to Big South All-Conference men's soccer teams, the conference announced this afternoon.

Selected by the conference's head coaches, defender Tim Harbison was named all-conference first team, goalkeeper Scott Sutarik was selected to the all-conference second team and forward Sachem Wilson and midfielder Blessing Tahuouna received honorable mention all-conference honors.  All four players are receiving their first all-conference honor.

In addition, Wilson was named to the Big South men's soccer All-Academic team and midfielder Jovanni Chavez was selected to the Big South All-Freshman team.

Harbison has started every Flames contest this season and will be among the Liberty starting 11 for the 56th consecutive match tonight, as Liberty (11-5-1, 6-3) faces Winthrop in the Big South Quarterfinals.

The junior defender is second on the Flames with four goals. The Auburn, Ala., native is tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals. In addition, he has one of two multi-goal games by a Flame this season, when he netted two markers in a 5-0 win over VMI on Sept. 2.

Playing at left center defender, Harbison has been part of a defense which has allowed 1.1 goals per game and recorded six shutouts this season.

Sutarik has posted 0.92 goals-against average and .779 save percentage in 16 games, this season. The senior goalkeeper currently ranks second in the Big South Conference in goals-against average and shutouts.

The Palatine, Ill., native has been named Big South Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2014. He earned the honor for the weeks ending Oct. 13 and Oct. 28.

This year, Sutarik has tied his single-season high of six shutouts. In 2011, Sutarik also posted six shutouts. The keeper is second on the program's career shutout list with 22.

For the second straight year, Wilson leads the Flames in scoring. The junior forward has scored seven goals and added one assist for 15 points on the year. He currently is tied for fourth in the Big South in goals.

The Stow, Ohio, native has played in all 17 of Liberty's contests this season and is tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals. All three of his game-winning goals have come in Big South Play.

Wilson also was named to the all-academic team for his accomplishments in the classroom

Tahouna has played in 16 games, scoring two goals and two assists for six points, this season. One of the junior midfielder's goals was the game-winner in a 2-1 overtime win over Robert Morris on Sept. 12

Chavez has played in all 17 games and started 12 contests in his first season with the Flames.  The midfielder has scored two goals and two assists in 2014.    

The Flames, the No. 5 seed, travels to Rock Hill, S.C., for a Big South Quarterfinal match against the Winthrop Eagles (12-4, 6-2 -1 Big South), the No. 4 seed, this evening.  Game time is schedule for 6 p.m. at Eagle Stadium.
