Liberty Draws No. 5 Seed for Big South Men's Soccer Championship

The Liberty Flames will begin their quest for the 2014 Big South Championship at Rock Hill, S.C., Tuesday night. The conference announced the seedings and pairings with the close of the conference's 2014 regular season earlier this evening.

The Flames, who completed their regular season today with a 1-0 double overtime victory, finished Big South play with a 6-3 record and compiled 18 points to place fifth in the standings.

Liberty, 11-5-1 overall, earns the No. 5 seed for the tournament and will meet the Winthrop Eagles, the No. 4 seed, in the Big South Quarterfinals, Tuesday evening at Eagle Stadium. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Winthrop and High Point tied for third place in the Big South standings with identical 6-2-1 records and 19 points. However, High Point claimed the No. 3 seed by virtue of its 3-2, 2 OT win over the Eagles during the regular season.           

Winthrop defeated Liberty, 2-0, on Sept. 27 in Rock Hill. The Eagles are 12-4-1 overall.

The winner of Liberty-Winthrop match will advance to Friday's first semifinal game at Bryant Park in Greensboro, N.C., the host site for this year's tournament, against the winner of No. 1 seed Radford and No. 8 seed Campbell. Match time is scheduled for 4 p.m.      

Radford claimed the top seed for the Big South Men's Soccer Championship with an 8-1 Big South mark and 24 points.

No. 2 seed Coastal Carolina will host No. 7 seed Longwood and No. 3 seed High Point will host No. 6 seed UNC Asheville in the other quarterfinal match-ups, Tuesday.

The 2014 Big South Men's Soccer Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Tuesday, before moving to Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C. for the semifinals and finals on Nov. 14 and 16.

The quarterfinals and semifinals will air on the Big South Network, with the finals airing on ESPN3. The Big South's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament. The conference championship schedule is as follows:
