Game On 2014 Opponent Preview: Monmouth
Liberty returns to Williams Stadium on Saturday to begin the final homestand of its 2014 regular season against Big South newcomer Monmouth during Military Appreciation Day.
The Hawks, who joined the league as an associate member this year, are still seeking their first Big South win following losses to Presbyterian (18-12) and Charleston Southern (27-0).
Monmouth's Brandon Hill is one of three Big South quarterbacks who has thrown for 2,000 or more yards this season (2,046). He ranks second behind Liberty's Josh Woodrum (17) with 16 passing touchdowns.
Hawks' running back Lavon Chaney leads all Big South players with 1,129 all-purpose yards, including a team-best 595 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.
Monmouth ranks second in the Big South in total defense, allowing 359.8 total yards per game. The Hawks' defense is paced by defensive tackle Josh Sieczkowski, who ranks third in the Big South with 7.6 tackles per game.
