On Monday, the Liberty women's basketball team was tabbed as the preseason favorite to win the Big South Conference title for the 17th time in the last 18 years, edging out High Point and Winthrop for first place in the poll.

The Liberty Flames Sports Network was on hand in Charlotte and caught up with Liberty Women's Basketball Head Coach Carey Green, High Point Women's Basketball Head Coach DeUnna Hendrix and Winthrop Women's Basketball Head Coach Kevin Cook.

Liberty went 20-11 in 2013-14, including a 15-5 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, High Point won the Big South regular-season title and Winthrop hoisted the trophy at the Big South Championship.

Four of the five players on the preseason All-Big South team hail from one of these three schools, including the Lady Flames' Ashley Rininger, High Point's duo of Kaylah Keys (Preseason Player of the Year) and Stacia Robertson and Winthrop's Erica Williams.

All 11 Big South women's basketball teams will play 20 conference games this season, with the first Big South tilts slated for Dec. 1. The season culminates with the 2015 VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Basketball Championships the week of March 3-8 at The HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.  The combined, one-site format features all 22 men's and women's teams and 20 games in six days, including the crowning of champions on March 8.
