Jacy Christiansen has been the Lady Flames' top finisher at every race this season.

Nick Pierce of the Liberty Flames Sports Network recently caught up with Liberty senior Jacy Christiansen, on the heels of her impressive showing at the ISU Pre-National Invitational.

Christiansen placed 11th in the women's 6K white race at the ISU Pre-National Invitational, Saturday in Terre Haute, Ind., marking the highest placement ever by a Lady Flame at the meet. Her time was a season-best 21:57.4 despite the soggy racing conditions.

Christiansen and her teammates will now turn their attention to the 2014 Big South Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships, to be contested Nov. 1 on Gardner-Webb's campus in Boiling Springs, N.C. The women's 5K will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 11:30. The Liberty men's squad will aim for its unprecedented 10th consecutive Big South team title, while the Lady Flames will chase their fourth conference championship in the last six years.

Christiansen could also contend for the women's individual title next weekend. The New Hampshire native is a two-time All-Big South performer in cross country, placing eighth in 2012 and third a year ago.
