Mathieu Fenasse finished tied for 18th place at the Rod Myers Invitational, Liberty's final team event of the fall season.

The Liberty Flames were unable to match yesterday's first round of the Rod Myers Invitational, finishing the shortened event in 11th place on Sunday.

The 12-team field was only able to complete a few holes of their second round on Saturday because of weather issues and the tournament was shortened to a 36-hole event following multiple delays.

The teams returned to the Duke University Golf Course on Sunday morning, picking up where they left off on Saturday afternoon.

After carding a 1-under par 287 during the first round of action on Saturday, Liberty's best 18-hole team score of the fall, the Flames were tied for fifth place.

However, the Flames were unable to find the same rhythm on Sunday and finished the event in 11th place with an overall score of 24-over par 600 (287-313).

East Carolina was one of a few teams to find the par-72, 7,136-yard soggy track to its liking today, allowing the Pirates to claim the team title by seven strokes with a 15-under par 561 winning score (281-280).

North Carolina finished in second place with an 8-under par 568 (278-290), followed by Baylor, who was third with a 6-under par 570 (286-284). Tournament host Duke finished a distant fourth with a 5-over par 581 (291-290).

East Carolina's George Kilgmore posted consecutive sub-70 rounds to take home individual medalist honors with a 7-under par 137 (68-69).

Baylor's Kyle Jones (69-70) and Notre Dame's Matt Rushton (68-71) finished tied for second with a 5-under par 139. A dozen players in total finished the 36-hole event in red figures.

Liberty's top golfers in the event were Hutson Chandler (68-77) and Mathieu Fenasse (70-75), who both finished tied for 18th place with a 1-over par 145.

Following a career best 4-under par 68 yesterday which had him tied for second place, Chandler slipped down the leaderboard on Sunday after he posted nine bogeys, four birdies and four pars on the day.

Fenasse, the lone senior on Liberty's roster, closed out the final fall round of his Liberty golfing career with 15 pars and three bogeys.

Adam Eineving finished tied for 43rd place with a 7-over par 151 (73-78) and Isaiah Logue finished tied for 64th place with a 15-over par 159 (76-83). Liberty's final golfer in the field, Mitchell Klooz, did not complete his final round of the event.

The Flames will begin the spring portion of their 2014-15 slate on Feb. 2 when they travel to Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., to participate in the Sea Best Invitational, hosted by Jacksonville.

This year's two-day, 54-hole event will be contested at the TPC Sawgrass Valley Course, the sister course to the Stadium Course that annually hosts the PGA Tour's THE PLAYERS Championship event in May.
