Liberty's men's golf team will finish up the fall portion of its 2014-15 schedule this weekend at the Rod Myers Invitational, an event hosted by Duke.

The two-day, 54-hole event, which honors the Blue Devil's former head men's golf coach Rod Myers, will be contested at the Duke University Golf Club on Saturday and Sunday.

This year will be the fifth year Duke has hosted the fall event and the host school has won two out of the four times on its home course (2011 and 2012). Iowa won the inaugural event in 2010, while Northwestern posted the winning score last year.

The Flames have participated in the event the last two seasons, finishing in fourth place in both 2012 and 2013.

Last year, Liberty posted a 5-over par 869 (294-282-293), while the team carded an 8-over par 872 (301-286-285) on the par-72, 7,154-track in 2012.

Only one of Liberty's players headed to this weekend's Rod Myers Invitational will have previous playing experience on the course. Mathieu Fenasse finished tied for 39th place last year with a 7-over par 223 (77-72-74).

Fenasse is coming off one of his top collegiate showings at Liberty, finishing tied for fifth place with a 2-under par 214 (72-72-70) at UAB's Shoal Creek Invitational.

It was his fifth career top five finish and marked his first under-par tournament score since claiming medalist honors at the 2013 Big South Men's Golf Championship.

Fenasse, who leads the team with a 75.17 season stroke average, was named the Big South Men's Golfer of the Week following the recent tournament showing.

The remainder of Liberty's starting five golfers this weekend will be seeing the Duke University Golf Club for the first time in their collegiate careers.

Also joining Fenasse this weekend will be sophomore Hutson Chandler (84.00), along with freshmen Adam Eineving (77.33), Mitchell Klooz (79.67) and Isaiah Logue (75.67) (season stroke averages).

Liberty is one of 12 teams in the field for this year's Rod Myers Invitational, which features three programs that finished in the top 50 in the country last year and two more in the top 75.

Included in this year's field are (final 2013-14 Golfstat team rankings): Baylor (No. 29), Liberty (No. 35), Iowa (No. 38), Northwestern (No. 60) and Charlotte (No. 61).
