Liberty Softball Posts 13th Best GPA in Nation, Earns 11 All-America Scholar-Athletes

The Liberty softball team has earned the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic Team award. Additionally, 11 Lady Flames were named NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes.
The Lady Flames earned a team GPA of 3.521 during the 2013-14 academic year, good for the 13th best GPA among all NCAA Division I softball programs. Nebraska-Omaha held the highest GPA, at 3.67.
The NFCA All-Academic Team award was given to each member institution that recorded a 3.0 or higher GPA during the 2013-14 academic year. A total of 102 NCAA Division I institutions received the award this year.
Liberty's GPA was the highest among Big South institutions. Gardner-Webb (3.368) and Coastal Carolina (3.143) also received the All-Academic Team award.
The All-America Scholar-Athlete award was given to any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade-point average or higher during the 2013-14 academic year.
Liberty's All-America Scholar-Athletes included seniors Alyssa DiMartino, Grace Nordan, Marybeth Sciolino and Sammi Shivock, juniors Chandler Ball, Kassidy McCoy, Hanna Nichols and Megan Robinson, and sophomores Kenzie Friesen, Katie Han and Blair Lawrence.
Shivock was named an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete for the third time, while DiMartino and Robinson both earned their second All-America Scholar-Athlete mention.
