As the Liberty softball team continues its fall practice, Nick Pierce of the Liberty Flames Sports Network caught up with second-year head coach Dot Richardson and senior catcher Kelby Allen.

The Lady Flames competed in the new Liberty Softball Stadium for the first time this past Saturday, hosting the Liberty Fall Round Robin. Liberty went 3-0 on the day, defeating Grace (Ind.) College, Randolph College and Lynchburg College. Senior Megan Robinson recorded the first hit in the history of the stadium, while Allen hit the first home run and freshman Abby Tincher tossed the first pitch and first strikeout.

Construction continues on the 1,000-seat stadium, with construction scheduled to be complete later this fall. Liberty is slated to complete its full spring schedule inside its new facility. The new stadium will have home, visiting and umpires' locker rooms, an expansive athletic training room, a state-of-the-art team meeting room, coaches' offices, a large press box, indoor batting cages, and a large scoreboard and video board, among other amenities.

The Lady Flames will conclude their fall competition schedule on Saturday and Sunday at the Virginia Fall Collegiate Military Appreciation Tournament at the Botetourt Sports Complex in Troutville, Va. On Saturday, the Lady Flames will face Richard Bland College at noon before taking on James Madison at 2:30 p.m. The following day, Liberty has a noon contest against Virginia Tech and a 2:30 p.m. game versus Virginia.
