Coming off a 4-1 victory over Charleston Southern three days earlier, the Liberty women's soccer team looked to add to the win column against Campbell, Saturday. Despite outshooting the Fighting Camels on the afternoon, the Lady Flames were unable to find the mark, leading to a pair of overtime periods and a 0-0 tie at Eakes Athletic Complex.

Liberty moves to 5-3-1 and 1-0-1 in conference play, while Campbell sits at 2-5-2 and 0-1-1 in the Big South. Campbell remains the leader of the all-time series at 4-3-1, while the stalemate marks the first head-to-head tie between the two squads.

Goalkeeper Holly Van Noord played the entire 110 minutes, making a season-high nine saves and earning a conference-leading fifth shutout. Van Noord now has 19 shutouts for her collegiate career, needing one more to tie Karen Blocker's (2008-12) program record of 20.

Campbell netminder Alexis Connors also played in between the pipes the full contest, finishing with nine saves.

Liberty outshot the Fighting Camels, 20-12, while shots on goal were even at nine apiece. The Lady Flames held an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

In the opening period, Liberty outshot the Fighting Camels, 7-4. Van Noord made two stops during the half to keep Campbell scoreless. Sophomore forward Erika Troutman nearly put the Lady Flames on the board in the 36th minute, blasting a shot that ricocheted off the post.

During the second period, Liberty picked up the intensity, outshooting Campbell, 10-4, with  five shots on goal. Connors continued to thwart the Liberty offense, stopping all five attempts. Van Noord made four saves on the opposite end, ultimately forcing overtime.

Shots were at a premium in the opening overtime period, but both teams came out stronger in the second. After a Nicole Connolly shot was saved by Van Noord in the 103rd minute, senior forward Alanna Dunkle booted a ball that sailed wide of the Campbell goal in the 104th. About five seconds later, freshman forward Jennifer Knoebel attempted the game-winning goal, but Connors was there to make the play. Following another Van Noord save in the 105th minute, senior forward Helena Pereira made one last attempt, which landed wide of the goal frame, giving way to the scoreless tie.

Liberty returns to Osborne Stadium on Wednesday against UNC Asheville, for its first home Big South contest of the 2014 season. Game time is slated for 3 p.m.
