Former Liberty men's tennis player Chad Simpson was recently named the men's and women's head tennis coach at Point University in West Point, Ga. Simpson competed for the Flames from 2006-2009 and is currently fourth on Liberty's all-time list in singles wins (52) and doubles wins (63).

Simpson helped guide the Flames to two consecutive winning seasons, including the team's first Big South semifinals appearance in 2009.

Prior to Simpson's arrival at Point, he most recently served as the athletic director and physical education teacher at Countryside School in Champaign, Ill. Simpson also served as an assistant tennis pro at Champaign Country Club.

Simpson's coaching experience included stops at The High School of St. Thomas where he served as head boys' tennis coach and Centennial High School where he was an assistant boys' tennis coach.

"We are so proud of Chad and very excited to see more Liberty players moving into coaching roles," said Liberty Men's Tennis Head Coach Chris Johnson. "Chad will do an outstanding job coaching and mentoring his players. He has a passion for teaching and also a passion for mentoring young people. The Point athletics family will really enjoy having Chad and Emily join them."
