LFSN Weekend Recap: Bryant
The Flames scored the first 24 points of the game and limited No. 25 Bryant to 249 yards of total offense, defeating the Bulldogs, 38-21, to cap off Hall of Fame weekend at Williams Stadium.
A 22-yard touchdown run by running back D.J. Abnar put the Flames up 24-0 with 5:19 left to play in the first half. The visiting Bulldogs used a 64-yard kickoff return and a mishandled punt to trim the lead to 10 before halftime to 24-14.
The Flames scored on their opening drive of the third quarter and added a 30-yard touchdown run by quarterback Josh Woodrum to secure their third victory in a row and move to 3-1 on the year.
Liberty has now won its second straight game against a top 25 ranked team. The victory marks the Flames' third victory over a nationally ranked opponent in three seasons under head coach Turner Gill (3-6 record against ranked teams).
The Flames doubled up the Bulldogs during the game, finishing with 498 total offensive yards and averaging 6.8 yards per play. Bryant finished the game with 249 total offensive yards and averaged 4.2 yards per play.
