Game On 2014 Opponent Preview: Bryant
LFSN's Game On continues its weekly opponent preview series with Nick Pierce by taking a look at the Bryant Bulldogs, the Flames' second home opponent this season.
Bryant is off to one of the best starts in program history. The Bulldogs enter this weekend's game 3-0 on the season and ranked No. 25 in the FCS Coaches poll (first national ranking in program history).
Bryant opened the year with a 13-7 victory at Stony Brook, a former associate member of the Big South. Last week, the Bulldogs defeated Maine at home, 13-10, a program that was ranked No. 23 by the Sports Network and No. 20 in the FCS Coaches poll coming into the week.
Saturday's matchup at Williams Stadium will be the first-ever between the two programs, the lone first-time opponent on the Flames' 2014 schedule. Liberty is 3-1 all-time against Northeast Conference opponents (Robert Morris: 1-1; Saint Francis, Pa.: 2-0). The contest marks the longest road trip in the Bulldogs' program history (coming from Smithfield, R.I. – nearly 600 miles from Lynchburg, Va.).
The Bulldogs have one of the best defenses in the country this year, as they rank No. 6 nationally in scoring defense by allowing 10.3 points per game.
Game On, a 30-minute daily sports talk show produced by Liberty Flames Sports Network (LFSN), airs Monday through Friday on various LFSN affiliates across the country and features regular coverage of Liberty football throughout the 2014 season. LFSN is a professional network that reaches more than 85 million homes across the U.S. and other areas of the world.
