The Liberty men's tennis team concluded the final round of the Seahawk Invitational Sunday in Wilmington, N.C. The final round was suspended due to inclement weather, leaving several brackets unfinished.

The Flames competed in one singles final, as well as, one doubles final before the rain swept through the venue.

In the Flight D finals, No. 2 seed Jason Burgess battled valiantly against Campbell's Krone but came up short in three sets by scores of 2-6, 6-4, 6-7 (5). The junior reached the finals after posting victories over North Carolina Central's Kyle Hairston (6-1, 6-2) and Campbell's Landon Rogers (6-4, 6-2) earlier in the event.

Josiah Boda also competed in the Flight D bracket, posting a 1-1 record that included a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 come-from-behind win over Rogers on Sunday.

The Flight A doubles saw the Liberty duo of Egon Samaai and Jorge Azuero as they went head to head against host UNCW's Sam Williams and Xander Veys, falling 8-4 in the finals.

The pair reached the final match of the bracket thanks to victories over Georgia Southern's Ristomatti Lanne and Kyle Hoffman (8-6) and Campbell's Jonathan O'Neal and Marthinus Visser (8-6).

In the Flight B doubles bracket, Liberty's Sam Matheson and Dillon Segur finished with a 2-1 record, including a 8-7 (5) win on Sunday over Campbell's Steven Billington and Adrien Rossignon in a third-place match.

Segur individually advanced to the semifinals of the Flight B singles bracket, before he was eliminated by No. 4 seed Veys (4-6, 6-2, 6-0) from the host Seahawks. Segur reached the semifinals following wins over Gardner-Webb's Paul Hogan (6-1, 6-4) and an upset win over No. 1 seed Zvonimir Podvinski of Old Dominion (6-4, 6-4).

Diego Castano followed a similar path in the Flight C singles bracket, reaching the semifinals thanks to a pair of victories. He opened the event with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over UNCW's Gianlucca Massa and rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over Campbell's Lorenz Schwab.

The Flames will return to action on Oct. 3 when they head down the road to Charlottesville, Va., to compete in the UVA Fall Invite.
