As the Liberty volleyball team prepares for the 2014 Liberty Invitational, Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network caught up with sophomore middle blocker Nzea McQuitery and 11th-year head coach Shane Pinder.

The Lady Flames are off to a 3-1 start to the 2014 season, including a 3-1 win at Commonwealth rival James Madison last night. Liberty leads the Big South with 14.07 kills per set and a .285 attack percentage. McQuitery, a 2013 Big South All-Freshman team selection, paces the conference in hitting percentage, at .446. Last night, freshman Hannah Weidner led four Lady Flames in double figures with 19 kills.

The team will host the 2014 Liberty Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at the Vines Center. A total of eight matches will be contested, with the Lady Flames competing against Howard (3 p.m.) and Murray State (8 p.m.) on Friday, before facing USC Upstate (2 p.m.) and UNCG (7 p.m.) to wrap up the tournament on Saturday.
