Following the team's final full practice before Liberty's 2014 season opener, head football coach Turner Gill met with members of the media to discuss the team's preparation on Thursday at Williams Stadium.

Liberty opens this season at No. 23 North Carolina, marking the fourth year in a row the Flames have started the year on the road. The game will pit Liberty against a nationally ranked FBS team for the first time in Flames' program history.

Liberty is coming off an 8-4 season in 2013, its second under Gill. The Flames enter Saturday's matchup with the Tar Heels riding a five-game winning streak. For the second year in a row, Liberty was perfect during the month of November under Gill, allowing Liberty to claim a share of the 2013 Big South title.

Liberty and North Carolina will meet for the first time in program history on Saturday at Kenan Stadium. Liberty has faced two other ACC foes in Wake Forest (2006 and 2012) and N.C. State (2011), with the matchup against Wake Forest in 2012 being Gill's first game at Liberty.
