With the 2014 Liberty men's and women's cross country seasons set to begin on Friday, Alan York of the Liberty Flames Sports Network caught up with head coach Brant Tolsma.

Hopes are high for the Flames and Lady Flames entering the new year. The men's squad is picked first in the Big South Conference and 10th in the NCAA's Southeast Region. Meanwhile, the Lady Flames are tabbed to finish second in the Big South.

Friday's UVa Duals will be contested at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va., with the first race beginning at 4:30 p.m. Both the men's and women's races will be 4K in distance, and Liberty will match up against runners from host Virginia, Duke, Florida State, James Madison and Norfolk State.
