Throughout the month of August, LibertyFlames.com will continue to provide in-depth coverage of football's preparation for its 2014 season, including player insight features.

We continue the series of player insight features today with quarterback Josh Woodrum, who is currently on pace to have one of the best quarterbacking careers in Liberty history.

Woodrum was an All-Big South second-team selection in 2013 and was named to the College Sporting News National All-Stars listing. He led the Flames and ranked No. 1 in the Big South in passing yards (2,581) and passing touchdowns (19).

The Roanoke, Va., native threw multiple touchdowns in six of Liberty's 12 games and surpassed 200 passing yards six times. He also did some damage on the ground, rushing for a career-high five touchdowns and 154 yards.

He finished the year with a 150.49 pass efficiency rating, which ranked No. 13 nationally and was the fourth-best, single-season mark in program history.

Woodrum has already been honored twice this preseason. He was named to the College Football Performance Award Quarterbacks Watch List and the Big South preseason all-conference team.

Woodrum enters his junior year with 4,547 career passing yards, which is ahead of the pace of Liberty's all-time career passing leader Robby Justino. The Liberty Athletics Hall of Famer entered his junior year with 3,951 career passing yards and finished his days on Liberty Mountain with 9,548 career passing yards.

LibertyFlames.com will continue its player preview on Saturday when the website visits with kicker Shane Blanchard.
