With the 2014 season just around the corner, the Liberty women's soccer team is gearing up for another run at the Big South Championship. On Wednesday, Liberty Flames Sports Network's Alan York caught up with the 2013 conference champions on their first day of practice.

Following the team's morning testing session, York spoke with head coach Jessica Hain and senior captain Maddie Boone. During the pair of interviews, the player and coach discussed a variety of topics, detailing what the team is doing to prepare for another championship run.

Liberty concluded 2013 with a 16-6-1 mark, setting a new single-season program record for most wins. Defensively, the Lady Flames' program-best 14 shutouts also tied a Big South record. The Lady Flames captured their fourth Big South Championship and first since 2005, defeating Radford in the final on Nov. 10, 5-0. Liberty's goal total marked the most goals in a Big South finals match.

The Lady Flames continue preseason training in the coming days before heading to Elon for an exhibition on Aug. 15. Hain's squad will open the season on Aug. 22 against Old Dominion at 7 p.m. Liberty will then make its 2014 Osborne Stadium debut on Aug. 26, hosting UNCG at 6 p.m.
