Haraf Named to Academic All-District Team
Liberty senior defensive specialist Becca Haraf has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District III Volleyball Team, as announced today. As a result, Haraf will now be included on the ballot for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division I Volleyball Team, with the team being announced on Dec. 12.
A native of Arlington Heights, Ill., Haraf holds a 4.0 GPA as a biology/pre-med major. She is the fifth Capital One Academic All-District honoree in program history, and the first since Karyl Bacon in 2010.
Last season, Haraf was honored as the 2012 Big South Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Haraf is also a three-time member of the Big South Presidential Honor Roll, and has helped the Lady Flames earn the AVCA Team Academic Award three years in a row.
She has been a solid contributor to the Lady Flames' back-row defense, and is third on the team with a 2.29 digs-per-set average this season. For her career, she has totaled 706 digs and 70 aces. She collected a career-high 19 digs at Charleston Southern, Oct. 12, 2012, and served up four aces against Coastal Carolina in the 2012 Big South Volleyball Championship final.
Liberty (7-16, 6-4 Big South) closes out its 2013 home schedule this weekend, hosting High Point (12-13, 6-4) tomorrow at 5 p.m., before taking on Campbell (13-14, 3-7) on Saturday at 1 p.m. Haraf, along with fellow seniors, student manager Logan Shackelford, Jade Craycraft, Lillie Happel and Kendle Rollins, will be honored with a Senior Day ceremony prior to Saturday's match.
